From the artist, Kitty Nicholason: My family had a framed Modigliani print hanging in our house, a portrait of a woman with an elongated neck. I just loved that painting. As a child — and still today — the women I draw all have long necks, long arms, long torsos, long hair — so when it came to naming my coloring book series, I wanted to give a nod to the artist whose style inspired me then and now, and that’s how Elong was born. Drawing is for me what I hope coloring is for you: a way to quiet any tensions, to lose myself to imagination, and to perhaps end up with something I and others will want to look at for some time to come.
