Building student character, strengthening values, and creating positive traits in young students — CHARACTER COUNTS!® is one of the most popular character-based and social-emotional learning (SEL) programs, proven to transform school environments and create positive student outcomes.

CHARACTER COUNTS! planners help students identify learnable moments to build their own character and help build and strengthen their character each day with probing questions and reflections to spur student thought and action. Each month, a different character theme prompts students to enhance their values, beliefs, and traits with specific learning outcomes. Each week brings thought-provoking opportunities for self-reflection on topics such as resilience, conflict management, and positivity. Planners incorporate the CHARACTER COUNTS! Six Pillars of Character®: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. This sequence of content gradually builds awareness, confidence, and mastery of core character skills.
